Magnificent and ultra rare pair of Art Deco Modernist lounge chairs. Design by Anton Lucas for N.V. Meubelkunst Leiden. Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. Solid oak frames with original solid macassar elements. Re-upholstered with an off-white premium bouclé fabric. In very good original condition with a beautiful patina. Meubelkunst Leidenis also known in the Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925. Well known architects of the Haagse School are Hendrik Wouda, Jan Wils, Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Brunott.
