Stunning and rare Art Deco Modernist tea cabinet. Design by P.E.L. Izeren for De Genneper Molen. Solid oak with original oak veneered frame with original macassar ebony knobs on both doors. Original glass top. Purchased by the former owners in Amsterdam at the retail shop of N.V. Paerels on the Rokin in the late 1920s. Rare because of the fact that the cabinets is marked with the retailers metal tag and stamped with De Genneper Molen trade mark! In very good condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. The Modernist look of this wonderful Art Deco open bookcase is also known in the Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925. Well known architects of the Haagse School are Hendrik Wouda, Jan Wils, Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Brunott.
