Stunning and rare Art Deco Modernist three-door bookcase. Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. Solid oak base with original veneered black lacquered top. Nine original solid oak shelves, adjustable in height. In very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. The Modernist look of this wonderful Art Deco bookcase or credenza is also known in the Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925. Well known architects of the Haagse School are Hendrik Wouda, Jan Wils, Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Brunott.
