Magnificent and ultra rare Art Deco Modernist stool. Design by Hendrik Wouda for H. Pander & Zonen Den Haag. Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. Original black lacquered oak frame with re-upholstered seat in red Manchester corduroy fabric. You can lift the seat for some storage space. Marked with original manufacturers metal tag. In very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. A real eye-catcher in your home or office. The Modernist look of this wonderful Art Deco stool by Hendrik Wouda for H. Pander & Zonen is also known in the Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925. Well known architects of the Haagse School are Hendrik Wouda, Jan Wils, Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Brunott.
