Important and rare Modernist Art Deco writing table. Design by Hendrik Wouda for H. Pander & Zonen Den Haag. Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. Solid oak and original oak veneered base with original solid macassar ebony knobs. The writing section is originally veneered with macassar ebony. Height of the writing section is 75 cm or 29.53 in. Original key with monogram. In very good original condition with a beautiful patina. The Modernist look of this wonderful museum piece is also known in The Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925. Well known architects of the Haagse school are Hendrik Wouda, Jan Wils, Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Brunott.
