Magnificent and ultra rare Art Deco Modernist bookcase. Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. Solid oak with original macassar ebony elements. All four doors have the original solid macassar ebony knobs. Eleven original solid oak shelves, adjustable in height. In very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. All locks and keys are in good working order. We will ship this lovely piece of furniture in a custom made wooden crate for safe transport when purchased by overseas buyers! The Modernist look of this wonderful Art Deco open bookcase is also known in the Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925. Well known architects of the Haagse School are Hendrik Wouda, Jan Wils, Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Brunott.
