Art Deco Oak Modernist High Back Dining Room Chairs by Architect Caspers, 1920s

Magnificent and ultra rare set of six Art Deco Modernist high back dining room chairs. Design by architect Caspers. Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. The two armchairs and four side chairs are executed in solid oak with original black lacquered high backs and re-upholstered in black Manchester corduroy fabric. In very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Please note that the dimensions are for the chairs not the armchairs! The Modernist look of this wonderful set of six Art Deco high back dining room chairs by architect Caspers is also known in the Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright as you can see in the design of this set! The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925. Well known architects of the Haagse School are Hendrik Wouda, Jan Wils, Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Brunott.
