Magnificent and ultra rare set of two Art Deco Modernist high back armchairs Design by architect Caspers.
Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. The two armchairs are executed in solid oak with original black lacquered high backs and re-upholstered in black Manchester corduroy fabric.
In very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.

The Modernist look of this wonderful set of two Art Deco high back armchairs by architect Caspers is also known in the Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright as you can see in the design of this set! The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925. Well known architects of the Haagse School are Hendrik Wouda, Jan Wils, Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Brunott.
