Magnificent and ultra rare set of four Art Deco Modernist high back dining chairs.
Design by architect Caspers.
Striking Dutch design from the 1920s.
The four side chairs are executed in solid oak with original black lacquered high backs and re-upholstered in black Manchester corduroy fabric.
In very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
The Modernist look of this wonderful set of four Art Deco high back dining chairs by architect Caspers is also known in the Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright as you can see in the design of this set! The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925. Well known architects of the Haagse School are Hendrik Wouda, Jan Wils, Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Brunott.
