Oak Art Deco Amsterdamse School Cabinet by Christiaan Bartels, 1920s

Magnificent and ultra rare Art Deco Amsterdamse School cabinet. Design by Christiaan Bartels. Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. Solid oak frame with solid elm panels on the side doors. The middle door has a hand-carved and hand-painted panel with decorations of a stylized butterfly, two stylized fish and two stylized snakes. Ultra rare because of the fact that we knew this museum piece only from the image of the book! Christiaan Bartels became a famous designer in the Netherlands when he did several designs for the interior and the façade of the world famous Amsterdamse School Movie Theater Tuschinski in Amsterdam. This wonderful Amsterdamse School cabinet is in very good condition and has a beautiful patina. Provenance: BINNENHUISKUNST by Corn.Van Der Sluys II, image: 172.
