Magnificent and rare Art Deco Modernist cupboard or cabinet. Design by Frits Spanjaard. Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. Solid oak with original red lacquered panels in the four doors. Four original black lacquered handles on the four doors. This wonderful piece of furniture will be dismantled into two pieces and shipped in two custom made wooden crates when purchased by overseas buyers! In very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. The Modernist look of this wonderful Art Deco cupboard by Frits Spanjaard is also known in The Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925. Well known architects of the Haagse School are Hendrik Wouda, Jan Wils, Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Brunott.
