Magnificent and rare Art Deco Modernist bookcase. Design by Hendrik Wouda for H. Pander & Zonen Den Haag. Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. Macassar ebony veneered frame with two original glass sliding doors. Three original macassar ebony veneered shelves, adjustable in height. Stamped with company name on the backside. In very good condition with a beautiful patina. The Modernist look of this wonderful Art Deco bookcase by Hendrik Wouda is also known in the Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925. Well known architects of the Haagse School are Hendrik Wouda, Jan Wils, Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Brunott.
