Magnificent and rare Art Deco Amsterdamse School bookcase. Design by Willem Penaat for H. Pander & Zonen Den Haag. Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. Solid oak base with original black lacquered elements. Two original solid oak shelves, adjustable in height. Lock and key are in good working order. Marked with original manufacturers metal tag. Willem Penaat designed this cupboard for the board of executives of the Post & Telegrafie (PTT). This wonderful Art Deco Amsterdamse School bookcase by Willem Penaat for H. Pander & Zonen Den Haag is in very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Provenance: Willem Penaat meubelontwerper en organisator 1875/1957 by Corrie van Adrichem, page 27 for a simular piece with the same doors.
