Magnificent and ultra rare Art Deco Amsterdamse School chandelier. Design by Hendrik Cornelis Herens for De Nieuwe Honsel. Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. Model D223 and ultra rare because of the decorations in the stained glass! Original patinated brass frame with the original so called top light which has the identical decorations in the stained glass as the original large stained glass shade. Pictured in the catalogue of Glasatelier De Nieuwe Honsel as can be seen in the two last images! Trademark of De Nieuwe Honsel was their so called pyrochrome glass, the colorful, burned and bended milk glass. Glasatelier De Nieuwe Honsel did two large projects for Abraham Tuschinski,Theater Tuschinski in Amsterdam and Cabaret dansant La Gaite in Rotterdam. They also manufactured chandeliers for the famous department store de Bijenkorf in The Hague in 1926. In very good condition with a beautiful patina.
