Magnificent and rare Art Deco Modernist coat rack. Design by P.E.L. Izeren for De Genneper Molen. Striking Dutch design from the 1920s. Solid oak and oak veneer frame with solid macassar ebony lining. Four original chrome-plated hooks. Model no. 346 in the Genneper Molen catalogue. In very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. The Modernist look of this wonderful Art Deco coat rack by P.E.L. Izeren for De Genneper Molen is also known in the Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925. Well known architects of the Haagse School are Hendrik Wouda, Jan Wils, Frits Spanjaard, Cor Alons and Jan Brunott.
